Where to Stay in South Beach
We stayed at the Marriott Vacation Club, South Beach, which is an excellent home base for exploring Miami. It’s within walking distance to the beach, restaurants, shopping, and scenic walking paths. The property also offers complimentary activities like smoothies, wine and rum tastings, and happy hour, plus bike rentals for getting around the city.
Another big perk is the full kitchenette and on-site laundry, which is especially convenient if you’re heading out on a cruise afterward like we were. The street in front of the hotel is blocked off, making the area extremely walkable, with restaurants lining the street and easy access to everything South Beach has to offer. You can book your stay here.
Additionally, we loved our breakfast and coffee at Cortadito Coffee House. We went each morning and really loved the advocado toast.

Day 1: South Beach, Ocean Views, and Iconic Miami Spots
Walk the South Beach Path and Muscle Beach
Start your trip with a walk or bike ride along the South Beach walking path. This scenic route offers sweeping ocean views, palm trees, and a mix of beach and city scenery. You’ll also pass Muscle Beach, a classic Miami landmark that adds to the area’s lively energy. There is also a chance to read about the Art Deco history of Miami.

The water along South Beach is surprisingly clear and blue for such a major city (at least I was very surprised by it), making this one of the most visually stunning ways to experience Miami.
Visit South Pointe Park
At the southern end of South Beach, South Pointe Park is a peaceful spot to relax and take in views of the ocean, city skyline, and cruise ships sailing out of PortMiami. It’s a great place for photos, a casual walk, or simply soaking in the coastal atmosphere.

Evening Drinks and Dinner on Española Way
For your first night, head to Española Way, one of the most charming and lively streets in Miami. The area is filled with restaurants, cocktail bars, and string-lit outdoor seating. Paperfish is a great option and offers plenthy of sushi and seafood options, as well as options for non-seafood eaters like myself. The rice and noodle dishes are especially good, and the wasabi martini is a must-order!
On your walk home, be sure to stop by and check out the Betsy Orb. The Betsy Orb is a unique, egg-shaped skybridge that connects two parts of The Betsy Hotel in Miami Beach. During the day, it blends in with the hotel’s Art Deco style, but at night it lights up and becomes a colorful, eye-catching spot that’s popular for photos.
Day 2: Nature, Wildlife, and Miami Nights
Everglades Airboat Tour
For a completely different side of Florida, book an Everglades airboat tour. Many tours offer hotel pickup directly from Miami, making it an easy half-day excursion.
Riding through the Everglades on an airboat is thrilling, and you’ll likely spot several alligators along the way (especially if you go in January like we did). After the ride, you can explore the park area and learn more about alligator conservation and the unique ecosystem of the Everglades. We also watched an alligator show that terrified us a bit with the guide being in an enclosed space with several gators, but he proved to us that they trust him!
Evening at the Versace Mansion
In the evening, head to the Versace Mansion for a more elevated Miami experience. The historic mansion is elegant, dramatic, and rich with history, making it the perfect spot for cocktails, appetizers, or dinner.
The atmosphere is upscale and glamorous, especially at night, so it’s worth dressing up a bit. Exploring the mansion after dark adds to the experience and makes it feel like a true Miami night out. We loved the lychee martinis!
Day 3: Boats, Views, and a Relaxed Last Day
Millionaire’s Row Boat Tour
A boat tour through Biscayne Bay and Millionaire’s Row is one of the most relaxing and scenic ways to see Miami. You’ll cruise past celebrity homes, waterfront mansions, and skyline views while learning about the area’s history. It’s a great option if you want a memorable experience without a lot of walking and offers excellent photo opportunities. You can book a tour here.
Return to Española Way for Dinner
On your final night, head back to Española Way and try a different restaurant. The variety here makes it easy to have a completely new experience each time, whether you’re in the mood for Italian, Cuban, Latin, or tapas-style dining. It’s a great way to end your trip with good food, cocktails, and a lively atmosphere without needing to travel far.
Final Beach Time or Bike Ride
Wrap up your trip with final beach time or a bike ride around South Beach. The flat terrain, ocean breeze, and scenic paths make this an enjoyable way to slow down before heading home or onto your next adventure.
Why Miami Is Perfect for a Short Trip
Miami is ideal for a 2–3 day getaway because it offers walkable beach neighborhoods, easy day trips like the Everglades, world-class food and nightlife, water activities and boat tours, and a balance of relaxation and adventure.
