As a lifelong Swiftie—aka a devoted Taylor Swift fan—visiting Kansas City came with one non-negotiable: dinner at 1587 Prime Steakhouse, located inside The Loews Hotel. When Travis Kelce and Patrick Mahomes opened their sleek steakhouse in September 2025, it instantly became a must-visit spot for fans, especially after photos of Travis, Taylor, Patrick, and Brittany Mahomes celebrating there started circulating on social media. So, Sandy and I made our “reservation” (sort of) weeks in advance—and let me tell you, it absolutely lived up to the hype.

The Ambiance: Dress to Impress
Before I dive into the food (and that cocktail), let’s talk about the atmosphere. 1587 Prime is elegant with a capital E. This isn’t your casual steakhouse—security and staff are all in formal wear, and the sophisticated vibe is palpable from the moment you walk in. Check the dress code on their website before you go, because while we did see a few people dressed down, the space really calls for your best dressy attire. Trust me, you’ll want to match the elevated energy of the room.
Chiefs gear is allowed on game days—yes, I know, weird for me to even mention that as a diehard Buffalo Bills fan. But hey, Kansas City really does feel like the Buffalo of the Midwest… and apparently, you can be both a Swiftie and a Bills fan!
The evening we visited, there was a lovely singer, Lee Langston, performing, which added such a special touch to the atmosphere. It’s sophisticated yet welcoming—exactly what you’d hope for from a place that celebrates Kansas City’s bold spirit with a modern steakhouse experience.
The Reservation Reality at 1587 Prime: Tips for Getting In
Here’s where things get real: getting a reservation at 1587 Prime is tricky. The restaurant was only three weeks old when we visited, and despite trying to snag a reservation the moment they became available, we struck out for our only available evening.
You can submit reservation requests through their website, but unless it’s confirmed, you won’t hear back. They also offer table alerts when spots open up, but fair warning—when I set an alert for the next day “just in case,” it automatically booked me a reservation without much notice, and I had to scramble to cancel it. Keep a close eye on your texts and emails to avoid any surprise bookings or charges!
After exhausting the online options (and getting radio silence from DMs and calls—they’re clearly still figuring out their system), Sandy and I decided to just dress up and show up. We arrived around 6:15 p.m. and asked about a drink at the bar. They quoted us a two-hour wait for bar seating, so I asked about dining tables instead—and they got us in for 7:45 that same night! The host was accommodating several walk-ins around us, too, so there’s hope if you’re flexible. It almost seems like it’s easier to dine there than get a drink at the bar!
My advice: Either arrive right when they open to grab a bar spot (you can eat there too), or do what we did and show up early to see what they can do. Persistence pays off!
The Food: Chiefs’ Favorites and Wagyu Dreams
Now for the main event. We started with the Wagyu Carpaccio topped with pickled mushrooms, pine nuts, umami aioli, black truffle, and parmesan. Melt-in-your-mouth perfection.
Next came the 1587 Wagyu Meatballs with arrabbiata, mozzarella, parmesan, and fresh basil—according to our waiter, Davy (who was absolutely excellent, by the way), these are a favorite of both Mahomes and Kelce. You can taste why.
We also ordered the Whipped Ricotta with truffle honey, chili, black truffle, and toasted bread, which was creamy, indulgent, and utterly addictive.
For my main course, I went with the Filet 8oz from Snake River Farms (Melba, Idaho). It was everything you’d want from premium Wagyu—tender, flavorful, and cooked to perfection.
The Drinks: A Swiftie’s Must-Try
Obviously, I had to order The Alchemy—Taylor Swift’s signature cocktail. This clarified citrus vodka blend features Pierre Ferrand Dry Curaçao, aronia berry, cranberry, strawberry, lime, and oolong tea. The surprise? A delightful cinnamon aftertaste that was different, sophisticated, and absolutely delicious. I very much enjoyed this cocktail.
Sandy ordered Queen B, Brittany Mahomes’ cocktail, made with Grey Goose, lychee, wildflower honey, vanilla, and lemon. It was topped with an adorable little cookie and was just as delicious as mine—sweet, smooth, and beautifully balanced.
Dessert: Sweet Endings
We couldn’t leave without trying dessert. We split the Buttercake with berry compote and caramel sauce—decadent and the perfect way to end the meal.
We also ordered the Red Sea cocktail (Casa Azul Blanco, Probitas, Capelletti, grapefruit cordial, lime, and mint albumin with egg whites), which was refreshing and tasty—a great palate cleanser after all that richness.
The Price Point: Worth Every Penny
Let’s talk numbers. Our dinner for two came to $359 USD total with tip. Is it expensive? Absolutely. But we figured it was worth the price point since we’d only get this opportunity once when visiting Kansas City. 1587 Prime is well worth the effort it takes to get in. The food and drinks were delicious, and the staff—especially our waiter Davy—was extremely kind, professional, and attentive throughout our entire experience. From the ultra-high-quality, locally sourced ingredients to the thoughtful nods to Kansas City’s culinary heritage, everything felt intentional and special.
If you’re visiting Kansas City—especially if you’re a Swiftie or a Chiefs fan—make this a priority. Who knows? Maybe you’ll even spot one of the stars if you’re lucky. For me, just being in a place so special to Taylor, sipping The Alchemy, and soaking in the atmosphere was a dream come true.
