The accommodations at Rio Perdido blend comfort and minimal impact perfectly. My East Bungalow was modern, clean, and designed to blend with the surrounding landscape. One of the daily highlights was watching the monkeys swing through the trees. They show up like clockwork, doing acrobatics overhead and occasionally pausing long enough to stare back at you. It’s impossible not to smile at them.

The sunset hike ended up being one of my favorite moments of the trip. As you reach the viewpoint, the landscape opens up to reveal three volcanoes standing in the distance. When the sun begins to drop, the sky turns shades of orange, pink, and purple, and the view shifts every couple of minutes.

Along the trails, expect to see lots of wildlife. We saw birds, lizards, frogs, and of course, monkeys. The forest feels alive in the best possible way.

It’s a short hike down to the river, and while it’s not difficult, the resort also offers a series of thermal mineral pools closer to the main building for anyone who prefers easier access. These pools range from hot to cool, making it easy to cycle through them at your own pace.

The swim-up bar adds a fun, relaxed touch. Enjoying a cold drink or a plate of Patacones while sitting in warm mineral water is pure magic.
